Krantz Weddings - unknowns #2

Marshfield, WI, wedding portrait

A wedding portrait from the old photo album of Marcus & Theresa (Ahl) Krantz. This couple appears, by the way they are dressed, to be from a younger generation than Marcus and Theresa. I do not know who they are. One clue, besides the crest stamped on the mat, under the studio name, which is so light it is not quite legible, is the name Marshfield. Marshfield, Wisconsin, is not far from Auberndale, Wisconsin, where Theresa (Ah)l was born. The original print is approximately 4" x 5.5", mounted on a 6" x 9" matboard.

S. B. Lucas wedding portrait from Daysland, Alberta

A wedding portrait from the old Krantz album that belonged to Marcus & Theresa (Ahl).

I am not sure of the identities of the wedding party. The photography studio mark is S. B. Lucas of Daysland, Alberta, Canada. Daysland was given as the post office for the location where my mother, Hilda (Krantz) Beitel was born. The groom in this photo looks to me like someone named Benefeld in other photos. The Benefelds were neighbors of the Krantz family in Canada. Another possibility is that the groom is related to a Lawrence Thomas because of the resemblance to this person in other photos. Anna Endres' sister was married to a Thomas, if I understand the relationship correctly. The original print is roughly 4" x 5.5" mounted on a 6" x 9" matboard.

portrait for John Ahl, Hewitt, WI

The original is a 3 7/8" x 5 1/2" print mounted on 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" matboard. The mat has a textured surface, but has no studio mark.

On the back of the matboard is written in pencil, "M Sepia - both on one card - Frame # 11, John Ahl, Hewitt, Wis."

This sounds like what a photographer would have written as a note on how to make the photo. M Sepia may refer to a color of brown toner to color the print.

"Both on one card" and the way the faces appear in an oval indicate that the two images were printed together, yet came from two separate negatives.

The name and the place could be the owner of the photo or the person in the photo or both. If this is John Ahl and his wife Annie, it could be their wedding photo. John and Annie were the parents of Theresa Ahl Krantz.

At this point I am not certain of their identity.

Please contact us if you can help identify anyone in these images.
